    Using a Sewing Machine

    Friday, February 22, 2008, 04:23 PM [General]

Among the things I love to do is fixing those that need repair and one of them is hand sewing.  I am a male and quite good at hand sewing.  When there is thick leather that needs sewing, I have even made my own needles for that purpose.  What I used are umbrella wire ends that have a hole in it.  I flattened one and sharpened one side, just like a knife, so it could cut through leather without needing to punch a hole first.  What I do not know how to use is a sewing machine.  My mom used to have that old Singer sewing machine that has a pedal.  I have poor hand and foot coordination to make it run.  Even when my mom attached an electric motor so it will be like an accelerator pedal to operate it.

In the past several years, I’ve seen handheld battery-operated sewing machines being peddled on the streets.  Many friends have tried them but all said that it did not last long and some even said it doesn’t work properly.  I wondered if Singer sewing machine had one of those handheld things.  On a web site that deals on appliances with different brands,  it gave me a grin when I saw this handheld Singer sewing machine.  There was only one review to it but an unfavorable one.  Well, anyway, scrolling down the homepage, it amazed me to find so many models of Singer sewing machine.  There are even computerized ones!  Some could do several types of stitches!   There’s one odd-looking, really distinct from the others, and I read the product details but I could not get on how it works.  I only understood that it could sew on buttons.

Being in my early 50s, I will no longer have the time or opportunity to learn how to use sewing machines.  Maybe, I will be contented in just watching people who know how to use them.  Singer sewing machine is one of the earliest, if not the earliest, brand of sewing machine.  For those enjoying using sewing machines, the web site is a great place to look up in case an ‘upgrade’ is necessary.

    Online Shop for Women

    Wednesday, February 20, 2008, 04:34 PM [General]

Women love to go shopping.  It amazes me that they don’t seem to tire walking around a mall.  Online, maybe their hands and fingers would be tireless shop surfing.  There are many online shops but one that got my attention is a web site shop that invites members to join for special offers that will not be available to non-members.  The site has a list of women’s shopping interests and a lot of variety!  I believe, even men would take a look at this site if they are in search for something to give as a present for women.  Men are often hard up on thinking what to give their girlfriend, wife or daughter for a gift.  This is a good site that will give a ton of ideas on buying something for them!

The homepage shows a box with a list of items that one might be specifically looking for.  Each of them is linked to their respective pages.  There are clear photos that show below the box that gives a good look on some items.  There are some buttons below each photo that offer viewers options.  The options are to buy, blog about it, send it or save the item.  The photos box has tabs on top for a choice of viewing new, popular or recent items.  The hive trendsetters have selected the items there that they find interesting.  There are also posted comments on the page from their members.  I am quite sure that females would find the site very interesting.  For one, I never thought that female fashion and accessories would have that much variety.

Biorhythm - your General Body Condition

    Wednesday, February 20, 2008, 02:10 AM [General]

Biorhythm is some sort of a measure of a person's intellectual, emotional, physical, intuitions, aesthetics and other moods at a given date. This is determined by just giving the data of a person's birth date. It is displayed best in curve graph showing the peaks and lows of those conditions and moods.

I recall a couple of decades ago my brother telling me about this. Then, there were still no computers to find out more about it. I think astrologists had some sort of formulas and equations to properly graph them. If I remember right then, you will need a graphing paper where you would make a scale from the middle of the graph. Upward will be a positive scale, and down from the middle, represents negative side of it. From the data provided by those who compute a person's biorhythm, points on the scale will be marked and the curves drawn. This could be done on a daily basis, or for a given period of time, weeks before and weeks after.

Recently, I was trying to make a search of biorhythm online but all I could find were sites that required subscription to provide you a complete graph that you request. Fortunately, I am a member of a social site, Facebook. This social site has so many applications that come along. Sometimes you feel like tiring out of using them because many do not have real good use. Most are just for entertainment online. A couple of weeks ago a friend sent an invitation for the Biotrend application. To my surprise and elation, it was exactly what I was looking for. A free source for biorhythm! What's more nice with it is, you are provided with both your Western and Chinese zodiac signs, which I think, are the basis for the biorhythm graph projections. After typing in my birth date, the application quickly showed a graph of my biorhythm for the past two weeks and the next two weeks. The date I did the biorhythm is included in the projection. Two types of graphs will actually show, one bar graph and the other is the curve. My biorhythm for those days was very accurate. My emotions and physical conditions were really down and low. In relation to the past week's events, there were really factors that affected my emotions and physical condition. We encountered a serious family problem. From that time on, I had frequented almost daily my Facebook site to check on my overall condition and mood. In that way, I was able to adjust to them properly, knowing in what state I am in.

Air Moisture Content – Relative Humidity

    Saturday, February 16, 2008, 07:47 PM [General]

Humidity refers to the amount of moisture in the air.  According to wikipedia, relative air humidity should be maintained between 30 to 50%.  This is the purpose in using humidifiers, to make humidity stay within that range.  Too much humidity makes one feel warmer and uncomfortable.  It can promote production or formation of molds and reproduction of dust mites.  With low humidity, it can cause dryness of the skin and have the feeling of being sparked when touching something metallic.  In my curiosity about humidifiers, a web site showed various types of humidifiers.  They look elegant!   I’ve always thought of them as large, odd looking equipments with water tanks!  The Honeywell Humidifiers are those that I am referring to elegant looking.  Their humidifiers have different water tank capacities to suit the area it needs to serve.

In the country where we are, we hardly find the need for a humidifier because we are just a few degrees north of the equator, a relatively small country, surrounded by oceans and seas.  So in that location, it is warmer denoting more relative humidity.  Countries nearer the colder northern and southern parts of the globe would find more need for humidifiers.  On the web site where you could find the Honeywell Humidifiers, there are reviews made by users of the product.  A good majority show satisfaction with just a few with some issues.  In reading the reviews, you will find out that some issues or complaints are at times resolved right there with the positive reviews.  An example is a complaint of mold formation on the filters.  It was actually resolved by a review saying he or she added ammonia to the water to eliminate the problem.  So for a good site to canvass for humidifiers, it will not tire you to try it online.

    Best Online Casino Refresher

    Friday, February 15, 2008, 12:27 AM [General]

Going back to an earlier blog post about casinos online, it might be worth mentioning here more of it.  This is in particular with the web site itself.  On the left hand portion of the homepage are navigational tabs that provide added information.  Of course, that information is all about best online casinos, FAQs about casinos online, guides, tips, reviews and a list of U.S. Casinos.  These need to be mentioned here to provide further knowledge and give guidelines to those who are just starting on online casinos.  These help a lot in knowing what and what not to do.  Not being a real casino player I am not sure about their ratings on maximum bonus.  Well, for casino aficionados, maybe you could put in a few words here commenting about that.

We know that not just anybody can play online casino and there are some factors or requirements on your computer to be able to play.  That would be provided in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) link on the site.  It will be frustrating for someone of age not to be able to play, only to find out that the operating system (OS) is not compatible with online casino applications.  For me, this would be the most important thing to consider because it would be of no use getting into other sites too if your PC system would not allow it.  So for those feeling lucky or their hands are getting ‘itchy’, make sure first by the navigating this best online casino site before clicking on to their top online casinos.
